On 4th October 2008 the Boys’ Brigade movement was exactly 125
years old. The founder was William Alexander Smith who held the first
meeting at 8pm in the North Woodside Mission Halls in Glasgow. Since that
first meeting the BB has grown into a world wide organisation with companies
in places like America, Canada and Africa.
To celebrate 125 years the 1st Galashiels Company attended a
camping weekend between the 3rd and the 5th October 2008.
There was 13 boys from the Junior Section and 14 boys from the Company
Section and we attended
Craikhope Residential Centre, Craik Forest (nr Hawick) for the weekend. The
Company Section had a night each outside under canvas, whilst the Junior
Section were in dorms.
This is the first time that the Junior
Section came away for a weekend and you will see from the pictures below
that everyone enjoyed themselves despite the weather!
