This year 1st
Galashiels went on an expedition camp for the 1st time. We set off from
the other side of Jedburgh and walked back to Galashiels over the
weekend of 25th to 27th June.
We stopped at
the Waterloo Monument (also known as Peniel Heugh Tower) and climbed to
the top for a great view across the Scottish Borders. The 48 metre (150
foot) tower on the summit of the hill was built between 1817 and 1824,
to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. |
